Movistar opens the first eSports official channel in Spain

Telefonica’s TV platform Movistar presented the first eSport official channel in Spain. An exclusive TV schedule will be provided through the Movistar+ chain.

As reported at the beginning of the year, Movistar+ opened its new eSports channel named Movistar eSports. There are high expectations about the potential of this channel because it could reach a high audience. The channel will broadcast exclusive live eSports competitions on TV, a big change considering that right now these tournaments are accessible only via Internet.

Movistar is betting hard on this new and exciting market, however, it will be interesting to know if the audience will redirect their attention to TV broadcasting or will stick with the content found on the net.
