The away match against Udinese showed off a Roma with a great confidence and dedication. Spalletti’s crew collected three deserved points.
Probably, the Italian Serie A is not the most exciting league in the world panorama but challenges against teams like Udinese or Genoa are always difficult to win. Last week we were celebrating the solid performance that the giallorossi made in the away match at Luigi Ferraris but today Spalletti’s crew did something more.
The clash against Udinese that took place at the beautiful and renovated Dacia Arena stadium demonstrated that when the giallorossi are focused on the match they almost always get victories. The first 20 minutes showed off a team confident in its qualities and ready to bite the prey. Simply amazing triangulations and management of the ball for Roma that has changed gears and pushed on the accelerator until Radja Nainggolan delivered a superb volley into the net. The match could have been easier if Edin Dzeko did not miss the penalty.
That unfortunate event represented the turning point of the game. Udinese reacted on the wave of enthusiasm while Roma has set back its range of action. Although the second half was a tough one for Spalletti’s guys, the giallorossi have closed all lines of passage not allowing Del Neri’s crew to create dangerous occasions. A remarkable moment was Francesco Totti’s entry into the pitch after being injured for more than a month. Once more, the captain showed off that his feet are kissed by God. Two balls touched in the first minute of his game and one great assist for Nainggolan who missed the ball.
Roma deserved the win. The team was extraordinary in its effort, dedication, and performance even if this game highlighted that the roster needs to be improved with wise operations in the January transfer market window.
