Landro Paredes: the predestined. Roma is winning its bet

Roma: Paredes playmaker like Pizarro
Roma: Paredes playmaker like Pizarro

Recently, Leandro Paredes is showing his great attitude and technique. Thanks to his multiple great performances the Argentine midfielder is now a starter for Mr. Spalletti’s squad. Roma has chosen the right player to bet on.

A while ago, I was writing my point of view about Leandro Paredes in THIS ARTICLE and I am very happy to say that my prediction was totally right. I always believed in the quality of this player that got to Rome when he was just a kid experiencing difficulties in settling in the capital of Italy. Paredes is another great discovery attributable to Walter Sabatini, the former Roma sporting director that I still miss for his ability to find talents allover the world.

Rumors were stating that in 2014 Ariedo Braida, Barcelona’s sporting director, travelled to Sassuolo to watch the match between Di Francesco’s guys and Empoli to check the qualities of the Argentine midfielder. Braida is one of the many market operators who believe that Paredes will have a great future. Although Paredes is still young we have to think that not many players were labeled as the copy of Riquelme, a player that is a legend in Argentina and considered only behind “El Pibe de Oro” Diego Armando Maradona.

Leandro Paredes was born in San Justo (Argentina) on June 29 1994 and in 2014 Roma decided to bring him to Europe. Although he was given on loan to Chievo Verona and then to Empoli the club of Trigoria always believed in his skills. Nowadays, right after Sabatini’s departure, the Argentine midfielder is finally showing his immense potential. Spalletti, that in his first mandate as Roma coach had the opportunity to start Pizarro as a playmaker, decided to try Paredes right in the role that the Chilean marvelously interpreted for years. According to the recent performances of the young Argentine talent, the Tuscan coach and Roma won their bet. Leandro seems to be indispensable for the correct development of Roma’s game. He is able to set the pace of the game and to serve precious assists to his teammates. Although his vision and ability to make the right choice still has to improve, Roma finally replaced Pizarro with a player worthy of being his heir.

In a recent interview that the Argentine released to the official Roma radio channel he admitted his happiness to play with such a great team and midfielders. His ability to “learn on the job” from professionals like Strootman, Nainggolan, and De Rossi let him hope of becoming one of the best in the world in his role.

Leandro Paredes is the new real Roma star and if he will be able to perform as well as he’s doing now Roma could have found its playmaker for a decade.
