Roma 4-1 Palermo: Three Serie A wins on the spin for Roma

Roma fine home form continues in Serie A, after picking up a comfortable home win over Palermo on Sunday night. Goals from Mohammed Salah, Leandro Paredes, Edin Dzeko and Stephan El Shaarawy gave Roma the win. Robin Quaison pulled a consolation goal back for Palermo.

Edin Dzeko had Roma first strike on goa after 6 minutes when Daniele De Rossi fed the Bosnian striker but his weak effort was comfortably saved by Josip Posavec. Stephan El Shaarawy then nearly opened the scoring for Roma when Edin Dzeko pin point cross found El Shaarawy at the back post but his angle drive went just wide of the upright. El Shaarawy then had two efforts on goal as Roma attacked at will. First effort after cutting in from the left was well saved by Posavec and his second effort was well blocked by the Palermo defence.

Emerson then test out Posavec from long range as his daisy cutter was parried away for a corner. From the resulting corner Federico Fazio had a towering header fly over the crossbar. Roma took the lead after 30 minutes after a bit of Palermo pressure, a headed clearance from Kostas Manolas found Edin Dzeko, who played in Mohammed Salah who scored from close range through the Palermo goalkeepers legs.

Juan Jesus then gave away a needless free kick on the 18 yard line after some poor control, Alessando Diamanti had Palermo first effort on goal which curled with a pace just over the crossbar. That was a warning sign for Roma. Roma made the first of their allocated three subs at half time as Alessandro Florenzi was brought on for Juan Jesus. That meant Emerson switched from right back to left back to allocate Florenzi to right back.

Roma added a second goal five minutes into the second half, after a foul on Emerson by Alessandro Diamanti. Leandro Paredes curled in a free kick from the left that evaded everyone and was misjudged badly by Palermo goalkeeper Josip Posavec as it squirmed under his body. Palermo then had their first effort on target on the 55th minute when Alessandro Diamanti low effort was parried away by Szczesny for a corner. Then moments later from the resulting corner, Szczesny was tested again when a cross from the left hand side found Andelkovic at the back post and his header was brilliantly stopped by the Polish goalkeeper.

Roma added a third on the 68th minute after a fine passing move which included Mohammed Salah and Alessandro Florenzi, the latter found Edin Dzeko who calmly slotted home into the bottom corner from just outside of the area. That was the Bosnian striker 8th goal in 9 matches this season. Palermo pulled one back on the 80th minute as Robin Quason deflected effort found the bottom corner past an outstretched Szczesny right hand.

Roma added a 4th just moments after Palermo pulled one back, a no look Francesco Totti pass found Mohammed Salah who ran at the Palermo defence, he played in Stephan El Shaarawy who took it in his stride and toe poked home from close range. Roma the missed two opportunities in added time to add a 5th, a Francesco Totti through ball found Kevin Strootman who rounded the goalkeeper and his angle effort dribbled past the goal, it was picked up by Mohammed Salah who played in Stephan El Shaarawy who then fired over from close range.
