Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has revealed that the Giallorossi are hoping to win the Scudetto this season.

The Lupi currently sit in third place with 26 points, leaving them just one point behind league leaders Fiorentina, and the 25-year-old admits that the Stadio Olimpico outfit are mainly concentrating on winning the Serie A title for the 2015/16 campaign despite tough competition from several other Italian teams.

Strootman spoke to Rete Sport at Fiumicino Airport following his return to Rome from the Netherlands about Roma’s hopes to secure the Scudetto this season, which would be their first since the 2000/01 campaign and their fourth in total.

“The Scudetto? We really hope that we can win it,” said the Dutchman.

The midfielder, who has had a number of knee troubles since his arrival at Roma in 2013, is still recovering from his most recent knee operation and is expected to return to the field in early 2016.
