Szczesny-Falque-Iturbe: AS Roma thanks its three saints

AS Roma defeated Frosinone in a match full of pitfalls, however, Garcia & co. must thank their goalkeeper, winger and striker due to their efficiency and dedication.

Most of the people were thinking that Frosinone vs AS Roma was going to be a parade of the giallorossi which supposedly were able to easily defeat the “Ciociari“, however, in the Italian Serie A there are not easy matches. The performance of Garcia’s guys was very insufficient also due to the brainy choices of a coach that seems to be in a complete confusion.

After the great match that AS Roma had played against Juventus at the Olimpico stadium most of the press, media and supporters were celebrating that Garcia had found an efficient starting 11 but the excitement suddenly disappeared. Today’s match presented a catastrophic sequence of bad choices that were almost going to affect the final result. Garcia scientific turnover didn’t work properly and the team suffered more than expected to get rid of a very weak opponent that, moreover, is at its debut in the Serie A.

In the disastrous performance of the whole AS Roma team led by a shocking Rudi Garcia I want to mention three players that, however, positively supported the squad, I’m talking about Szczesny, Falque, and Iturbe.

The Polish goalkeeper save the result thanks to an extraordinary save during the first half. When Tonev suddenly threw a powerful kick toward the right corner of the net Szczesny demonstrated his reactivity deflecting the trajectory and conceding the corner. In that moment the result was stuck to 0-0 and that goal could have changed the entire course of the game.

Iago Falque is probably the best surprise of the beginning of the season. The AS Roma supporters were skeptical about his signing even if the Spanish winger had scored 14 goals in the past season at Genoa. Sabatini believed in him and when a player feels the confidence he definitely performs better. Today’s match represents a confirmation that Iago Falque is a multitasking winger able to attack and defend as well as to score important goals.

Juan Manuel Iturbe seems to be at the center of a fairy-tale story. The player was practically sold to Genoa during the past transfer market session until Walter Sabatini changed his mind deciding to keep him at AS Roma. Since that moment the Argentine winger seems to be on the road to physical and mental recovery. Thanks to his motivation and will to demonstrate his quality he is also playing better and more proficiently for the sake of AS Roma. Against Juventus he had forced Evra to a fatal foul that sent the French fullback out of the match with a red card. Today’s match represents a re-starting point for the young Iturbe that scored a vital goal ending a perfect counterattack.
