Inter legend Sandro Mazzola has revealed that he sees Roma as the top candidates to win the Scudetto this season.
With reigning champions Juventus off to an extremely poor start, many have named the Giallorossi and Inter as the two sides most likely to win the Serie A title this campaign, though the 72-year-old believes that his former club are still lacking some of the skills possessed by the Stadio Olimpico outfit.
Mazzola spoke to Rai Radio Anch’io about the race for the Scudetto this season and the quality shown by Roma, while also commenting on the improvements Inter have made since Roberto Mancini’s return.
“Roma play the type of football that I love and I think that they’re the number one candidate to win the title this season,” said the former forward, who played for the Nerazzurri from 1960-77.
“Inter have improved a lot but are still yet to reach the same level, though there’s still a chance of us finding success.
“The Nerazzurri have really improved thanks to Mancini and their new purchases over the summer.”
