Cole expected to make Roma exit this summer

By Joe Avicolli

Roma defender Ashley Cole is expected to make his exit from the capital city club this summer as the Italian side closes in on Paris Saint-Germain left back Lucas Digne.

The 34-year-old, whose current contract with the Giallorossi is set to expire in June 2016, failed to receive much playing time during his debut campaign in Rome last season and it seems like he may be on the verge of making a departure from the club in order to make room for the PSG man.

According to L’Equipe, the Englishman will most likely terminate his contract with Roma in the coming days, which would save the Lupi from paying him the remaining 2.5 million of his salary and provide them with extra funds to use in their bid for Digne.

The former Chelsea man was also left out Rudi Garcia’s line up for the Stadio Olimpico outfit’s final summer friendly against Sevilla on Friday, fueling reports of his exit.

Cole made just 11 Serie A appearances last term.
