Roma-Totti: Respect women’s football, this sport is for everyone

By Joe Avicolli

Roma captain Francesco Totti believes that women’s football should be treated with the same amount of respect as men’s football.

There has always been criticism aimed at women’s football, with some feeling that it’s lesser than its male counterpart to an extent, though the 38-year-old has revealed that he fully disagrees with this point of view and has urged all fans to support the female players just as much as they support the men.

Totti spoke through his official website,, about his feelings on the subject and reminded football fans that the sport belongs to all people without discrimination.

“This sport belongs to everyone: men, women, children and especially to the disabled,” said the Giallorossi legend.

“Football is Italy’s main sport and the respect we give to women who play it has to be the same as the respect we give to the men.

“We must do this because we are all a part of the same family, a family that was made from the best sport in the world.”
