Jean Bernard Beytrison, agent of Roma striker Seydou Doumbia, has revealed that his client is only focused on doing well for the capital city club right now and isn’t thinking about the future.
The 27-year-old had struggled to find his form upon his arrival at the Giallorossi from CSKA Moscow in January but has now scored a goal in each of his previous two appearances for the Lupi, with his agent claiming that the Ivorian international only needed more time to train following a rough winter.
Beytrison spoke to LaRoma24.it about his client’s current situation at Roma and commented on his mission for the remainder of the season, while also touching on the subject of Doumbia’s future in Rome.
“I talk to him every day, he’s very pleased with his latest performances and wants to continue to do well for the team,” said the agent.
“We never had any doubts about his quality, he knows what he can do when given the time.
“Unfortunately he had finished playing in Russia at the beginning of December and then immediately had to worry about the Africa Cup of Nations, which wasn’t exactly easy.
“You use up a lot of energy when you’re playing for a trophy like that. The thing was that he just wasn’t really playing as much as everyone else who had been playing in their regular leagues.
“People have to remember that Doumbia had not seriously trained for about two months and could not immediately be in top condition.
“His future? I’d say that this isn’t the right time to talk about these things. He’s only been in Rome for a few months.
“He wants to play and has shown that it’s easier for him to score once he’s had some time to adapt on the pitch.
“I’m sure that he will continue to score even more, he may even score against AC Milan in the next match and help Roma achieve Champions League qualification.”
