Gianpaolo Montali, former executive of Rome from 2009 to 2011, released a short interview to Rete Sport in which he highlighted what he believes to be AS Roma’s problems.
Montali is sure that AS Roma lacks of organization and winning mentality:
“When I left Rome the Americans had brought great benefits to the club. The Americans have always had a winning mentality, but this hasn’t happened in Rome. There’s lack of organization so far. AS Roma got an excellent group of players, a great Sporting Director and coach as well as great fans.
Pallotta highlighted that he wants to recreate Juventus’ organizational model but the individuals are those who make the difference with their winning mentality. This is AS Roma’s main issue. It ‘impossible to recreate in the capital of Italy what happens in Turin.
I was very disappointed when I left Rome because I knew which was the right chemistry to implement. Roma’s main goal is to win but if you want to think big you have to look to the small things. Firstly we need to be and then we have to appear. Rome is worth more than anything else in the world.”
