Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has reassured his fans that he is indeed back in training as he nurses his latest injury despite rumors claiming otherwise.
Many reports had suggested that the 25-year-old may never be able to return to top fitness ever again since recently undergoing surgery for yet another knee injury, which he suffered against Fiorentina on January 26, though he insists that he will be back to playing before the start of the 2015/16 season.
Strootman released a statement on his official Facebook page on Tuesday to put an end to the false reports regarding his physical condition and urged fans to ignore the rumors, while also commenting on his steady recovery process.
“Contrary to reports in the media I am back in training and working hard on my comeback,” said the Dutch international.
“Please don’t believe people who have never seen me in their lives, but just follow the social pages of me and AS Roma, where we will keep you updated on my progress.
“Just for the record, I’m right on track to be back when pre-season starts.”
The midfielder had only managed to make six Serie A appearances this term after returning from his previous injury in November, but had been able to provide two assists to his team-mates in that time.
