Roma are reportedly considering a summer move for Hamburg captain Rafael van der Vaart in hopes of adding some strength to Rudi Garcia’s midfield.
The 32-year-old will be out of a contract come June and has been heavily linked with a possible transfer to MLS side Sporting Kansas City at the end of the 2014-15 campaign, though it seems like the Giallorossi are ready to enter the battle for his signature.
According to Leggo, Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is highly interested in landing the Dutch international and has been monitoring him in recent weeks as the capital city club prepare to arrange an offer for his services.
The former Real Madrid man could certainly be of good use to coach Garcia due to his veteran experience in the midfield, though Sporting KC are still currently seen as the favorites to secure him at this point.
Van der Vaart has scored four goals in his 17 Bundesliga appearances this term thus far.
