Roma-Cagliari: Press conference pre-match!

From the Champions League to Serie A…

“We must able to switch from one competition to the other. In preparing a match I don’t think about the rotation also because often ate does this work for you. I just look at my players to select those in the best physical condition as well as the quality of the opponent team.”
Cagliari’s strengths and weaknesses…

“We’ve analyzed Cagliari well, as we do with all of our opponents because we want to win every match.  they have a good offensive line but we don’t have to think about them too much. We respect the opponents but we’re not afraid of anyone. We need to approach Cagliari in the same way that we approached the Champions League.”
Challenge for the title…

“Milan v Juve? The most important thing for us is to win tomorrow. Of course, when two big teams play each other, you’re always hoping for a draw. We need to focus on our own matches and fight so that we can challenge for the title over the course of the season. Let’s not forget Napoli and Fiorentina, either. Serie A has many strong teams, so tomorrow we need to do everything we can to win and to collect 9 points out of 9.”
Defense line…

“We’ve got a lot of injuries but our roster is big enough to deal with that. Sabatini and I scouted diligently for a central defender and I’m pleased to have Yanga-Mbiwa here with us. He played well against CSKA and he needs to continue on this path, he needs to stay calm. Unfortunately, due to Castan and Astori’s absences we have to play with the other two available defenders, but that doesn’t affect the strength of our team. Torosidis? Against CSKA he played there to contrast Tosic who’s a very dangerous player. Ashley Cole did very well against Fiorentina, but he had played two matches in a row so I needed to give him rest.”
Midfield line…

“I’m lucky enough to have a strong midfield line with complementary players. It’s important to have a wide range of choices in that area of the field. Keita can plan in front of the defense, but he can also play further ahead because he knows how to score goals and he has played there in the past. De Rossi is also clever enough to know when is the right time to attack. We can’t lock our players in a fixed position. I want the team to be well-balanced. When Totti plays we have more ball possession. With his vision of the game Totti lights up the field.”
