José Holebas: “I will definitely help the team to win!”

Today at 12.30 José Holebas, new AS Roma fullback, was presented to the press and media. The experienced Greek fullback seemed to be very happy about his new Roman adventure and he stated to be ready to play:

Hello everyone and thanks, I’m happy to be here. I had many offers and I decided to come here in Rome because they are a great club with a great name.”

Once you stopped playing football. Why?

When I was 18 I stopped for some private situations, for my daughter. Most of my friends were having success and I thought that I wanted a ball between my feet as well. Step by step I started from the bottom, it was difficult but I did it. “

Then Roma called you…

I had some talks, it was a complicated situation because I was at the World Cup, but I’m happy to be here because I’m in a great club. Everyone knows that I started late, I’m 30 years old but I’m still hungry for victories. I think we all want to win the title. I spent a couple of days with the team, I trained and I believe that if you want to succeed, you must train and believe in what you want to do, then you will win! Surely I will do my best to help the team. I am an offensive left back but I can also play as central defender. However, the coach will decide my position on the pitch.

Did you speak with Ranieri about Roma?

I have not spoken with Ranieri. It is an advantage for me to play with two other Greeks players. I can say that there’s feeling between us.”

About Fiorentina and Garcia…

I watched the game against Fiorentina, the positive thing is that we got the 3 points. I have not spoken with Garcia, but over the next few days I will definitely do it. It’s only three days that I’m here. I‘m doing my best and the coach will decide whether I can play or not. Surely everything will depend on the coach’s decisions. I will do my best to give my contribution and I will definitely help the team to win!
