Roma-Fiorentina 2-0: MVP, Nainggolan nuts and bolts!

ITALIAN SERIE A – 1st week -2014

ROMA – FIORENTINA 2-0

When I evaluate a midfielder I take into account three main phase that a player in that position should properly perform. I’m talking about the intercept, the construction and the offensive phase.

In yesterday’s match against Fiorentina Radgja Nainggolan was elected MVP due to his continue support to the team in the three pre-mentioned phases. Let’s see his stats…

During the match Nainggolan completed 88% of the passes, 50 out of the 57 passes that he made from the midfield. He was also able to perform 13 out of 16 passes from the attacking third zone in which it is included the assist provided to Gervinho for his second goal. Nainggolan’s performance was practically perfect in the defensive third zone of the pitch due to an amazing 7 out of 7 passes performed.

Radja Nainggolan represented a constant relief for the entire AS Roma defense line because he successfully won 4 out of 6 tackles in which he was involved. This is an important data in light of the defensive problems that yesterday Roma was experiencing due to the recent sale of Benatia, to Castan absence, and the not perfect physical condition of Ashley Cole.

Radja Nainggolan shoot 3 times toward Fiorentina’s net. 1 time on target, 1 off target and 1 was blocked. Obviously, the 1 shoot on target is the goal that moved Roma ahead during the first half.

Simply an amazing performance of the strong Belgian midfielder that perfectly supported his team in the defensive and offensive phases. Radja Nainggolan is a great resource for Rudi Garcia as well as one of the best midfielder on the European scene.
