Source: Corriere dello Sport

Miralem Pjanic released an exclusive interview to “Corriere dello Soprt” in which he explained the reasons why he is still playing with Roma. Below his most important statements…

Why did you decide to renew the contract?

Because I believe in Roma’s project, in this team, and in this coach. I listened to my heart and I renewed. I could have choose to earn more money but I want to play where I am happy.”

What about your friend, Benatia?

I do not know what problems there are between him and the club. I know that his intention has always been the same as mine, to remain here. The team is whit him. Our friendship comes from the fact that we are neighbors, we speak French, and we are Muslims.”

What are your human idols?

“My father and my mother. They had nothing, but they built a lot.”

Who is your sports idol?

Zinedine Zidane. I regret not having met him in Dallas because he was busy with Real Madrid B.”

You have learned how to make goal like Maradona

“It is something that you have to imagine before. I was also lucky to receive a quick pass by Nainggolan.  The opponents have not had time to close the space. So I tried it without making calculation.”

Aside from Garcia, who was decisive in your decision to remain in Rome, which coach you remind with more pleasure?

“Luis Enrique. He taught me to see football in a different way: movements, tactics, mindset. The whole team followed him. Unfortunately he did not have the time and patience to succeed in Rome.”
