Mattia Destro is not going to the World Cup

Prandelli’s final list of players for the World Cup in Brazil was long awaited with trepidation and it has arrived. The player excluded from the world competition is Mattia Destro.

This decision is at least a little strange if we carefully analyze Destro’s performances since January, the period in which he finally recovered in excellent physical condition. In fact Destro scored 13 goals in 5 months far better than many other players that Prandelli selected.

We should emphasize that Mario Balotelli scored 14 goals playing from the beginning of the season. It could also make sense to say that Insigne often sat on the bench during this season and yesterday, in the friendly match played against Ireland, he didn’t even play.

Perhaps this is another decision made on the basis of Prandelli’s famous ethical code.
