The World Cup in Brazil has created a series of reactions that gave a strong shock to Italian football. After the harsh attacks made by senators to some of the younger players of the Italian national team the heavy statements are not finished yet.

In a recent interview released to the Corriere della Sera, the Italian goalkeeper Buffon said:

Before the World Cup I thought that we were not the best, however, I thought that our team was good enough to pass the group…I often read and hear ironic comments on Pirlo,  De Rossi,  Buffon, and Barzagli‘s age. The rumors go away but on the field the facts remain and the same players always break their bones for the just cause. Since 2010 I have heared that Italy is an old team. If a young player has the talent to become a champion he shouldn’t be sent to the national team only after three or four games but I would let him plow the grass in Serie A for a while.”

What about De Rossi‘s statements after the elimination?

“I have read Daniele’s words after we returned. I totally agree with what he said. In these competitions it is the human thicknessthat makes the difference.
